Monday, June 3, 2013

Reflecting on the year, I am constantly reminded of the incredible work and devotion that the staff puts forth from August to June. I mean all consuming thought goes into each word that is spoken, each example given, each activity and assessment that is used with our students.  Every moment we spend is intentionly planned. I know some go to great lengths to entertain or appeal to interests and sense of humor. There is not a moment that isn't spent on helping each individual student achieve at a higher level than the day before. Those outside of education cannot understand the emotional drain that occurs when working with a human product, not just a widget that can be produced using specifications.

My point in sharing this is that your exhaustion is warranted.  You have earned this time of rest that is before you. It is time to go back to the well and drink deeply.

Isaiah 40:31 says "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not grow faint."

Take the time to go to Jesus for renewal and refreshing. Take this time to let the urgency of this student, this class "right now" pass. Go, rest, pray, and give thanks for what we have contributed to the Kingdom in Jesus's name.

May God bless you all.
